Health Day Term 3
Another great day was organised by the health team this term. House groups participated in a variety of activities including cup-stacking, obstacle course, movie, jump jam, and quiet library time. Awesome effort from the health team putting these activities together and also to the house leaders who certainly extended their leadership skills.
An awesome day of activities organised and run by the heads and house leaders of the school. The students did a wonderful job show-casing their leadership and organisational skills throughout the day.
World Cup Football - St Mary's Style
A very successful and fun football day was held late in Term Two. The cold bitter wind didn't seem to deter the students attitudes as they played a total of six games throughout the day. It was awesome to see both leadership skills and team spirit shining through as the senior students encouraged the younger students 'to give it a go'.
The Health Team decided upon the unique idea of inviting students to exchange their uniform for pyjamas and a can of food that could be donated to the foodbank. Thank you to the parents as quite a bundle of cans was collected that will certainly boost the foodbank pantry.
100 Years of Anzac
Over Term Two the students have been investigating many aspects of ANZAC, war and life as a soldier. As a school we commemorated ANZAC Day with a liturgy, erected memorial crosses and well as created some stunning art work.
Family Flight Day
The classrooms were open to family and caregivers on Thursday afternoon for students to show off their science investigations about flight.
The PTA are a big part of our school helping to organise events and are the driving force behind many of our fundraisers.
The annual Year 7 & 8 Gala was another success this year with plenty of bargains, tempting tasters and fun-filled games to entertain the young and old.
Caritas - Fundraising for the Philippines
This year Caritas asked the Catholic Communities to support fundraising for the Philippines following the natural disasters which caused widespread destruction there. The Health Team organised a 'relay for life' type of event where groups of students walked consistently from 9am till 3pm carrying buckets of water. This helped the students relate and understand the hardships that some of the Philippine people had to experience especially when the disasters occurred.
